Where to litigate in the EU
The UPC will consist of a Court of First Instance, a Court of Appeal and a Registry. The Court of First Instance would have a Central Division with its seat in Paris and thematic sections in London focusing on chemistry cases, including pharmaceuticals and human necessities (International Patent Classification C matters) and the seat in Munich will deal with mechanical engineering cases (International Patent Classification F matters). Each geographical Division is expected to take about 30% of case loads. The Court of Appeal will have its seat in Luxembourg and the Registry will be set up at the seat of the Court of Appeal.
